Taxi Driver courses for Stevenage Borough Council.

  • Initial Course for Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Drivers (tutor led) – For new applicants
  • Disability Awareness & Safeguarding E-learning course – For existing licensed drivers

Some local authorities require that you take a Taxi driver course in order to drive a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicle. To find out if your local authority requires you to attend a course please contact them directly. You should also check that we already work with your local authority to carry out a course on their behalf.

  • Initial Course for Hackney Carriage & Private Hire drivers, including 1st attempt at The Licensed Driver Test – for new drivers £150

What does the Course involve?

The Initial Course for Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Drivers (tutor led) for new applicants will cover:

  • Current legislation, rules, and regulations applicable to drivers
  • Expectations for customer service
  • Increasing drivers own awareness and how to ensure their own safety
  • How to report a crime and advising drivers how to deal with customer complaints
  • Relevant sections of Highway Code
  • Disability and equality awareness
  • Safeguarding responsibilities
  • Payment and basic arithmetic

The Disability Awareness & Safeguarding E-learning course for existing licensed drivers will cover:

  • Current legislation, rules, and regulations for both Disability Awareness & Safeguarding
  • Understanding Safeguarding
  • Indicators of abuse & neglect
  • Reporting concerns
  • Disability & equality awareness
  • The Equality Act 2010
  • Dementia awareness

    If you book the Initial Course for Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Drivers, you will be sent a link to the digital copy of the course handbook. We advise that you read the handbook prior to attending the course.
      What you will need for the course

      • Your driving licence.
      • If you have the old style (non-photocard) licence, then you must also have a valid passport.
      • Your booking confirmation email.

       

      For the Initial Online Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Driver Course, you must be available to attend for the Licensed Driver test within 2 working days from the date of the course.

      The Licensed Driver Test (Initial Online Course)

      You will have 90 minutes available to you to answer 50 questions.

      To pass the test, you will need to score a minimum total of 40 out of 50 correct answers.

      E-learning course assessments

      You will have separate assessments for the Safeguarding & Disability Awareness modules.

      Amending or cancelling your tutor led course or Licensed Driver test

      You can easily amend or cancel your tutor let course or Licensed Driver test once it has been booked. Please call us on 0330 111 7230 or email info@greenpenny.co.uk to do this. Please ensure you give enough notice to amend or cancel – you must give at least 4 clear working days notice so that you don’t lose your fee (working days = Monday to Friday, not including bank holidays. 4 clear working days, does not include the day you inform us you would like to cancel or the date of the course or test).

      If you have already attended the full course, or part of the course, then no cancellation or change of date is possible and no refund will be due. If you fail to attend a course or test on the date you have booked, or you arrive late, no refund or date change will be available.
