Overview

Taxi Driver course for Thanet District Council.

Some local authorities require that you take a Taxi driver course in order to drive a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicle. To find out if your local authority requires you to attend a course please contact them directly. You should also check that we already work with your local authority to carry out a course on their behalf.

Our Fees

  • Initial Course for Hackney Carriage & Private Hire drivers, including two attempts at The Licensed Driver Test £135
  • The Licensed Driver Test – retest £21.00

What does the Course involve?

The course will cover:
  • Current legislation, rules, and regulations applicable to drivers.
  • Expectations for customer service.
  • Increasing drivers own awareness and how to ensure their own safety.
  • How to report a crime and advising drivers how to deal with customer complaints.
  • Relevant sections of Highway code.
  • Disability and equality awareness.
  • Safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Payment and basic arithmetic.
What to bring to the course
  • Your driving licence.
  • If you have the old style (non-photocard) licence, then you must also bring a valid passport.
  • Your booking confirmation email.
Tests that will need to be passed for Thanet District Council
  • New drivers: The Licensed Driver test (For Thanet District Council, This test includes a Geographical Knowledge Test element).

 

You will have 60 minutes available to you to answer 30 questions.
To pass the test, you will need to score a minimum:
4/5 within each of the 4 question course categories.
7/9 on written questions within the 20 course questions.
9/11 on multiple choice questions within the 20 course questions.
7/10 in the Geographical Knowledge category.
 A minimum total of 23 correct answers.

Certification

Upon a successful attempt at The Licensed Driver Test (you will take The Licensed Driver Test at the end of the course), you will receive your pass certificate by email, within 24 hours.

If you do not pass The Licensed Driver Test, you will be notified by email. You will then be contacted by us to arrange booking a retest.

Amending or cancelling your assessment or test

You can easily amend or cancel your course or test once it has been booked. Please call us on 0330 111 7230 or email taxi@greenpenny.co.uk to do this. Please ensure you give enough notice to amend or cancel – you must give at least 4 clear working days notice so that you don’t lose your fee (working days = Monday to Friday, not including bank holidays. 4 clear working days, does not include the day you inform us you would like to cancel or the date of the course or test).

If you have already attended the full course, or part of the course, then no cancellation or change of date is possible and no refund will be due. If you fail to attend a course or test on the date you have booked, or you arrive late, no refund or date change will be available.
