Course Information
Understanding and applying effective teaching and learning strategies is essential for success in both the Part 3 test and the Standards Check. This course helps Potential Driving Instructors (PDIs) and Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) refine their instructional methods, combining client centred learning (CCL), coaching approaches, and traditional question and answer techniques. It also aims to simplify the often complex subject of learning strategies and clarify what examiners expect to see during assessments.
What the Course Covers
During this session, you will explore:
- The range of teaching and learning styles relevant to driving instruction.
- How to apply client centred learning (CCL) and coaching techniques effectively.
- What examiners look for in your teaching approach during the Part 3 test or Standards Check.
- How to encourage pupils to take responsibility for their learning through reflection and feedback.
- Strategies for clarifying lesson outcomes and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Dispelling common myths around learning strategies and understanding what truly matters in assessments.
Interactive Learning
This course encourages open discussion and practical exploration of real world scenarios. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions, share experiences, and practice adapting your teaching style to suit different pupils and situations. By the end, you will have clearer strategies to apply both in assessments and everyday lessons.
Who Should Attend?
Ideal for PDIs preparing for their Part 3 test and ADIs working towards their Standards Check, this course is also valuable for instructors who wish to refresh or expand their knowledge of modern teaching approaches to improve their day to day instruction.
Your Instructor
The course is led by a Grade A Approved Driving Instructor with extensive experience training PDIs, ADIs, and post-test clients, including fleet drivers. Their supportive and practical guidance will help you develop confidence and flexibility in your teaching style.
